Otra etapa larga con 728 kilómetros de recorrido y 13 horas subido en la moto, que serán en total 15 horas con las paradas. En vivo ya verás la distancia y el tiempo real. Las tres siguientes serán más cortas antes de la jornada de descanso, pero esto te lo iré contando en los próximos días.
En los primeros 100 kilómetros pasaré por Gante y Amberes, donde no haré parada. Hay que sacrificar el turismo por el reto. Tampoco podré disfrutar de las masas de agua penetrando las tierras bajas, así como cruzar la desembocadura del río Escalda y visitar Breda (Velázquez inmortalizó en «La rendición de Breda la heroica batalla, una de las más famosas y sangrientas de la Guerra de los ochenta años) Otro gran sacrificio que alargaría la jornada en muchas horas. Pero queda pendiente para una «escapada».
Internándome en los Países Bajos llegaré a Nimega y Arnhem donde tomaré, de nuevo, rumbo hacia la costa. Dejando a la izquierda Utrech llegaré a una de las zonas más impresionantes de la jornada: bordearé las masas de agua dulce separadas del mar por el dique de Afsluitdijk. Este dique cierra la bahía de Zuiderzee que se compone de dos grandes lagos separados por otro dique, el Houtribdijk (que utilizaré para cruzar la bahía) El mayor recoge y almacena el agua del río Rin y el pequeño es el Markermeer. El primero lo bordearé por el oeste y el segundo por el este.
Ya solo me quedan pocos kilómetros para llegar al destino, Groninga, ciudad de contrastes entre lo moderno y lo histórico, cruzada por canales.
